Speech/Phonological Delays

Articulation and phonological disorders are speech sound
disorders that affect a person’s ability to produce speech correctly. While they are related, they
differ in terms of causes, characteristics, and treatment approaches.

Stuttering/Fluency Delays

Stuttering, or fluency disorder, is a speech condition that disrupts
the normal flow of speech. It often begins in early childhood and can range from mild to severe.
Early intervention can significantly improve fluency and confidence in communication. Many
young children go through a normal phase of dysfluency as they learn language. However,
persistent or severe stuttering may require intervention.

Language Delays

Language development is a crucial aspect of early childhood, influencing
cognitive, social, and academic skills. Some children may experience language delays,
meaning they do not develop language skills at the expected rate. Early identification and
intervention are key to improving outcomes.

Telepractice Information

Speech-language pathology services are usually delivered one-on-one, and
they are most often provided in a face-to-face setting, where client and
practitioner can work together in the same physical space. Regularly
scheduled sessions are the ideal way to reach important therapeutic goals.

For some clients, however, time constraints, travel distance, or physical
limitations can make attendance at regular sessions difficult or impossible. For
individuals facing certain speech language challenges, telepractice or distant
learning sessions are an option worth exploring.

Telepractice or online therapy allows Tasha Carter, or other practitioners
associated with Collectively Speaking, LLC to meet and work with clients
through synchronous video technology such as TEAMs and/or Zooms. All you

will need is your desktop or laptop computer, an Internet connection, and the
relevant software or application. It’s easier than it sounds!

Telepractice appointments are available, where clients can receive
consultation and therapy services using online tools. In-person appointmentsupon request.
